The Finale Ride 50 - 15/8/17 -   Zagreb to Novi Vinodolski Adopted by a Croatian family, and finally, seeing the sea... 118 miles 2,100m ascent Sonia & I said our final goodbyes at 0630, then I headed off, following a route I had plotted pre-trip. The warm rays of late dawn glistened across the land, & I travelled down quiet country roads, edging closer to the distant hills. The downside to this rural route was that I could find nowhere for a toilet stop (bush was not ideal for this type of toilet requirement..) - two shops refused/ said there were none. Finally at 40ish miles I found a cafe by diverting to a town. Yes! Getting closer to you, mountains! Tractor parking place I was also frequently running out of water. Swedish Riviera part 2 Ride day 29 - 10/7/17 - Gothenburg to Tylösand An argument, a Swedish radio interview, & how not to wild camp 116 miles 754m ascent Probably my easiest escape from any city thus far: a smooth signposted cycleway leads southwards out of Gothenburg, & through the suburbs along the west coast. In fact there is a specific & marked cycle route down this whole coastline called 'Kattegattleden', mostly on perfect surfaces. I passed some pretty & calm waterside scenes, mainly of little fishing boats & small rocky islands. Stopping for a caffeine top-up & something sweet, I ended up in a bakery in Asa. Queuing up to pay, an elderly lady moved in front of me to the till, then picked up my coffee mug (it's self-service here), & gestured that I need to go get my own mug from over there. Now, normally one to respect my elders, I also however will not let it slide when somebody is in the wrong! This

'Easy days', the Troll's path, & Geiranger The UNESCO site Geirangerfjord. Supporting Hand in Hand for Syria - www.alaina.org.uk  Ride day 15: 49 miles, 864m ascent Damn you wind - this is my 'easy' day! Atlantic Ocean Road Doing my mega day had afforded me time to split the next hundred miler in half. Knowing I'd be going over the place pictured above, I thought it's not something I want to rush or be feeling horrific for! 30 minutes of sun!? Quick! My gear may go from soaked to damp! :D Feeling leisurely, I took my time with getting ready, & met another lovely German couple touring in their campervan. My route south began with a tunnel illegal for cyclists, & it seemed the ferry I planned to take actually no longer exists!
