Copenhagen & Zealand Rest days Copenhagen Now that I have upped my daily mileage, in order to get the average for the trip at 100 miles/day, I am racing through the scheduled places, and thereby affording more days off than planned - win! From right: fellow cycling enthusiast, Sven, & our host Anker I therefore arrived a day early in Copenhagen, & stayed these extra two nights with a lovely & welcoming host, via the website ‘Warm showers‘. He let me sleep on his floor, despite also hosting another cyclist on one of the nights, & being busy with his early morning starts for work. The famous Little Mermaid statue, recurrently voted as Europe's biggest 'let down' tourist sight. Bless her. I used this valuable spare time to chase the goal of getting a replacement shifter for my bike. If anywhere was to have one...Copenhagen should be the place! I may have also used this 'rest' time to go climbing...it felt so goo...

Swedish Riviera part 2 Ride day 29 - 10/7/17 - Gothenburg to Tylösand An argument, a Swedish radio interview, & how not to wild camp 116 miles 754m ascent Probably my easiest escape from any city thus far: a smooth signposted cycleway leads southwards out of Gothenburg, & through the suburbs along the west coast. In fact there is a specific & marked cycle route down this whole coastline called 'Kattegattleden', mostly on perfect surfaces. I passed some pretty & calm waterside scenes, mainly of little fishing boats & small rocky islands. Stopping for a caffeine top-up & something sweet, I ended up in a bakery in Asa. Queuing up to pay, an elderly lady moved in front of me to the till, then picked up my coffee mug (it's self-service here), & gestured that I need to go get my own mug from over there. Now, normally one to respect my elders, I also however will not let it slide when somebody is in the wrong! This ...
